![]() May 20, 2025 In Loving Memory of Nasrin Azadeh ![]() In early May 2025, friends and family of Nasrin Azadeh were saddened to hear the news of her sudden passing. Nasrin lived in the Lincoln Heights area of Ottawa and was a well loved member of her neighbourhood community as well as a longtime member of the Ottawa Bahá’í Community. As a single mother, Nasrin devoted her entire being to raising her two children. Her greatest hope was that they grow ever closer to their Creator, aware of their spiritual reality, and inspired to live a life of service to their communities and neighbourhood. This was no easy path. Amidst the disintegrating forces of society and personal trials—an early separation, the stillbirth of her third child, and the challenges of relocating to a new city—Nasrin remained resolute, placing her complete trust in God. With quiet strength and steadfast faith, she met all the challenges of life with dignity and spiritual fortitude. Every morning her home was filled with the melodious chanting from the scriptures of the Bahá’í Faith. As a dedicated teacher of children’s classes, Nasrin nurtured not only the hearts of her own children but also those of many families in the community. She helped shape young souls, instilling in them a sense of spiritual identity and love for service. ![]() The purity of her heart was
felt by all who encountered her. She constantly strove to bring joy to
others—forgetting herself in service. She was a mother to the young, a
daughter to the elderly, and a friend to the lonely. Her heart found a
way to connect with every soul.
As her children grew up and left home, Nasrin’s energy and love for people found its expression through various acts of service throughout her neighbourhood. She offered home-cooked meals, taught classes for children, and cultivated friendships, free from any trace of prejudice. Year after year, her glowing, loving smile brought comfort and warmth to neighbours and friends alike. ‘Naz’, as she was affectionately referred to by some of her friends, offered exercise classes in person at the Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre during the Covid pandemic, which then moved to Zoom and were much appreciated by many who participated. ![]() At a celebration of life event held at the Pinecrest-Queensway Health Centre, many of the over 80 participants from her neighbourhood recounted stories of their encounters with Naz. In many different ways they told the story of how she impacted their lives. Nasrin’s life was a living expression of generosity. Always thoughtful, she would offer small gifts—tokens of affection—to lift hearts. ![]() Her pure character was a reflection of the Faith that she followed and which she loved so much. She relied on the teachings of her Faith to guide her path in her day-to-day life. It was her guide through the trials she endured and the lives she touched. Her children have indicated that when they think of their mom, her legacy to them is one of steadfast faith, radiant service, and selfless love. |
