"Cast Aside the Clouds": a film about Love, Faith, and the Courage to Seek Truth presented by Mary Darling

Canadian Baha'i film-maker, Executive Producer of Little Mosque on the Prairie" "Cast Aside the Clouds: Love, Faith, and the Courage to Seek Truth" will seek to explore the powerful themes at the heart of the feature film" Cast Aside the Clouds": love that transcends boundaries, the struggle for religious freedom, and the human search for truth and justice. Through the story of Layla and Sasan, whose relationship unfolds amid prejudice and persecution in Iran, the work reveals how compassion, faith, and moral courage can challenge systems of oppression. This talk considers how art can illuminate broader questions about identity, belief, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Mary Darling is an award-winning director and producer, and co-owner of WestWind Pictures. With more than 700 hours of programming distributed internationally, her work is known for bringing thoughtful, culturally resonant stories to global audiences. Darling helped bring worldwide attention to Canadian storytelling as executive producer of the groundbreaking series "Little Mosque on the Prairie," which aired in more than 80 countries and challenged stereotypes with humor and heart. Her filmmaking focuses on themes of empathy, identity, and the shared human search for belonging. She co-directed, co-wrote, and produced the feature film "Cast Aside the Clouds," which has been featured at many film festivals.
