Introduction
The Bahá'í Writings are replete with references to the regenerating influence of the Word of God and its power to transform the human heart and human society. For example in one passage Bahá'u'lláh says:
"O peoples of the earth! God, the Eternal Truth, is My witness that streams of fresh and soft-flowing waters have gushed from the rocks, through the sweetness of the words uttered by your Lord, the Unconstrained; and still ye slumber. Cast away that which ye possess, and, on the wings of detachment, soar beyond all created things. Thus biddeth you the Lord of creation, the movement of Whose Pen hath revolutionized the soul of mankind." (Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, page 139)
Elsewhere 'Abdu'l-Bahá says: "Spread far and wide the precepts and counsels of the loving Lord, so that this world will change into another world, and this darksome earth will be flooded with light, and the dead body of mankind will arise and live; so that every soul will ask for immortality, through the holy breaths of God." (Selections from the Writings of 'Abdú'l-Bahá page 3)
First step
There are many different ways a seeker may pursue to learn more about the Teachings of Bahá'u'lláh. A good place to start is often by attending an introductory gathering (often referred to as "firesides") where Bahá'ís will present the basic concepts of this new Faith. These often take place in private homes, but they are also occasionally held in public halls. Please refer to the schedule below. The information is organized by sectors.
